Vomaris and Challenged Athletes Foundation Announce Renewed Partnership to Support CAF’s 2015 Elite Paratriathlon Team Competing to Qualify for the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games

Tempe, Arizona –

Vomaris Innovations, Inc., a company specializing in electroceutical solutions for the wound care market and beyond, and the Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF), a world leader in creating athletic opportunities for individuals with physical challenges are continuing their partnership with Vomaris’ second year of support for CAF’s Elite Paratriathlon Team and its quest for entry into the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016.

Since the announcement of Paratriathlon’s debut in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, competition worldwide has soared, making it imperative for elite athletes to travel, compete and gain valuable ITU (International Triathlon Union) series points against the best in their class. An ITU Paratriathlon race consists of a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike and a 5-kilometer run. Official Paralympic points for countries begin this year on July 1 and run a full year to June 30, 2016.

Vomaris provides the Elite Team members with Procellera® Wound Dressing, the only wound dressing in the world powered by Advanced Microcurrent Technology.® In the event that an Elite Team member suffers a skin injury while training or racing, the Procellera Wound Dressing offers a leading edge solution for wound care. Embedded in the dressing are microcell batteries that generate electricity in the presence of a conductive medium to promote healing.

Acceptance of Procellera Technology is rapidly growing in the physician prescription market with studies demonstrating its ability to enhance cellular migration for enhanced wound healing, along with effectiveness against a broad-spectrum of harmful pathogens, including multi-drug resistant and biofilm-forming bacteria.

“This easy-to-use product is exactly what I want and use if I suffer any scrapes or abrasions during my training in preparation for Paratriathlon in the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016,” says Elite Team member Mark Barr, whose day job is as a Registered Nurse. Barr, who lost his leg to a tumor at age 14, competes on Team USA’s Paralympic Team and has already secured his bid for Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

”Vomaris is proud to continue our partnership with CAF for a second year and help elite challenged athletes get back into the race quickly after potentially side-lining injuries,” says Mike Nagel, President and CEO of Vomaris.

Now in its third year, CAF’s Elite Paratriathlon Team is gearing up for critical races that pave the road to the Paralympics. 2015 race highlights include ITU Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (test event), numerous additional ITU World Paratriathlon Events and ITU World Paratriathlon Championships in Chicago, Illinois in September. “We truly value our relationships with our partners and are excited to partner for another year with Vomaris in support of these elite athletes training for the Paralympics,” said Virginia Tinley, Executive Director of CAF.
